Discipline Board
1.Improvement on the Recruitment System
In recent years, some members were reported for not fulfilling their duties or responsibilities. In extreme cases, some even abused their authoritative power. This goes against the principles of the Discipline Board and should not be tolerated. Therefore, this year, a trial period is proposed to solve this problem.
The trial period will last for a month. During this period, all members need to fulfill their duties, responsibilities and uphold the principles of the Discipline Board. If members under the trial end up not meeting a specific mark requirement or violating any school rules, they will be dismissed immediately.
Once a dismissal has taken place, candidates on the waiting list will take the place of the ousted member. However, the newly added members will also have to go through the trial period.
This policy will help solve the existing issues, and improve the overall quality of the Board’s members. Moreover, our intention is to give more opportunities to the students who did not pass the Discipline Board interview.
2.Inclusion of Class Prefects
In the past few years, the Discipline Board did not assign any official duties to the elected class prefects. However, it was noted that the class prefects are part of the Board. This year, the Board will make full use of the existing class prefects by entrusting them with various duties similar to those of the Discipline Board members.
All class prefects will cooperate with and perform tasks ranging from the staff room duty to the reporting of the monthly class behavior to the Board.
This policy aims at reducing the workload of the Discipline Board members, allowing members to focus on other duties. This augments the work efficiency of the Board and smoothens the overall operation. Moreover, this policy can also increase the sense of belongings of the class prefects towards the board.
3.Structural Reform
In the past, Discipline Board members were split into various teams to perform different tasks. Unfortunately, this results in a lack of cohesion between members themselves. The lack of cohesion led to a decrease in the smoothness of the Board, as members are incapable of working well with each other.
In order to increase both the efficiency and cohesion of the Board, it is proposed that members are to be reassigned among different teams. This allows members to increase their exposure to different groups within the Board and increase the communications between members. Members will be reassigned every three months to execute the plan proposed.
It is also proposed that an internal gathering should be held every term. The objective is to also augment the cohesion and solves the issue of members being incapable of working together.
Furthermore, the Finance Committee has played an important role in supervising the financial change of each board in an effective way, but as the events that the Discipline Board assists in usually do not involve any financial income or expenditure, the Treasurer assigned to the Discipline Board is no longer of any use.
4.Administration and Internal Affairs
Rather than just simply reassigning members between teams and holding team spirit trainings, the Discipline Board will also utilize the diversity of its members to achieve the following goals.
Form 4 Committee Members will be in charge of monitoring the performance of the junior form members. Moreover, the Committee Members will act as role models and pass down essential skills to the junior members, as well as each and every generation yet to come.
By the end of the school year, one Discipline Board member from each form will receive a letter of appreciation to celebrate their notable performance.
Finally, to work towards a smoother transition between the present and the future generation, the Form 5 members will lead the team in the first term, while the Form 4 members will guide the teams in the second term.
