1.Student Association Orientation Day

Community Spirit is one of the most significant virtues that Lasallians uphold. Our community is not one simply made up of students, more importantly, it contains ties of friendship that will last for years to come.

Thus, being too nervous to reach out to know Brothers and other Lasallians would not allow you to build up the bonds between people. Stories of people would not be shared, a sense of belonging would not be built due to the loose ties between one another.

The same thing applies to the Student Association. Student Association should not be confined to office in the campus, but it should go much farther. Members of the Student Association are people who develop individuality through impacting each other’s lives. Throughout the years spent in the Student Associations, Lasallians do not merely work and serve, but should also be able to acquire a family, the family of more than 100 students as a whole.

In view of this, we propose a get-together chance by holding SA Orientation Day. Activities, keynote speeches, games, and a cheering session that will inspire students will be included in the rundown of that day. Our members may be introduced to their respective groups in accordance with boards or randomly distributed.

We believe that the Orientation Day would grant our members a chance to be familiar with others, students from different backgrounds, of various characters, would work together as a group to get tasks done. It also enables groups to develop friendship through collective work. Such tasks could help our SA members to realize their potential, visualise their own abilities, train up their impromptu speaking skills and creativity.

There is no doubt that some of the SA members, may find themselves lost and confused about the new policies and duties of each board. They may also be unfamiliar with what can they do to make a change, to fulfil their responsibilities. Keynote speeches about leadership, general duties, and even some motivational words would be presented by the seven of us. Such exposure to the attitudes and directions that SA members should know will enhance their understanding of the Student Association, which helps them equip themselves to embark on the rest of the year.

2.Pre-membership scheme- Cheering Team

Apart from being a Class Representative or Class Prefect, Form 1 students have no possible ways to join the Student Association. As for Form 2 students, little and limited vacancy would be reserved, especially the Class Representatives Board as they will not be recruiting Form 2 students. Under the current system, we have noticed that Form 2 Working Members have no substantial work assigned and they are confused as to what exactly can they do to serve. For the sake of solving these two deficiencies, as well as emphasising the fact that being a member of the SA is not just a “name”, we proudly introduce this groundbreaking membership scheme.

This year would be the first year that Form 1 students would be permitted to apply for working membership in the Student Association. Form 1 students and Form 2 students are allowed to submit their applications to the Class Representatives Board. Successful applicants would be attachment to the CRB but would also be directly affiliated with the Cheering Team of the Student Association. The Cheering Team is directly attached to the name of the Student Association, and the President of the Student Association. It will be compulsory for Form 1&2 Class Representatives to be included in the team, while Class Prefects would also be mostly welcomed. Form1&2 members of the team, who successfully demonstrated the will to act and serve, with certain percentage of attendance would be given a Letter of Appreciation in the end of the Second Term, which will be beneficial to their applications for the Student Association membership next year.  On the contrary, failure to attend trainings without acceptable reasons will lead to warning letters. Cheering Team members may be excused during class time to cheer for sportsmen in various sports competitions.

It would be a great chance for passionate Form 1 students to strengthen their understanding towards the Student Association at the beginning of their La Salle school life and for Form 2 students to serve the school.

The Interschool Swimming Competition would be held soon in October, and sufficient training is expected to ensure that our cheering is strong, fierce, and coherent. As a result, trainings would be held as soon as possible after the Orientation Day.

As the seniors of the school, passing on the torch of La Salle, handing down the traditions and teachings of our old boys are our seniors’ responsibilities. Concerning the trainers of the team, outstanding Cheering Leaders would be invited to join the Cheering Team. During the Orientation Day, we would observe and nominate Form 3 or above SA members that demonstrate leadership charisma as the Cheerleaders of the team.  By establishing the cheering team, we can assure the level, quality of our cheering in Interschool Competitions. This would not only show our genuine support to the sportsmen, but also to incarnate the ideas of Faith and Zeal. Moreover, it provides a great opportunity for senior form students to discover their own definitions of leadership.

3.Enhancement of sports supplies system

One of the most crucial duties that the Student Association should bear is to serve our fellow Lasallians. In the previous year, the Student Association have given supplies to fellow sports team members such as providing drinks or having people to cheer for them. This made a good start in showing support to sportsmen of Lasalle, yet this is not enough.

All sportsmen of Lasalle should have recognition in making our school able to excel in different perspectives so as to make us all- rounded. In spite of their hard work and effort during trainings, we fellow Lasallians should have the responsibility to provide all the support we are able to give.

As mentioned above, the SA would like to enhance the sports supply system proposed by last year's cabinet. Supplies like water, energy drinks would definitely be kept. One of the biggest improvements we would like to make this year is regarding the new Cheering Team we would like to introduce.

In the past, there are members cheering for the sportsmen of Lasalle, yet despite the Inter- school Swimming Competition and the Inter- school. Athletics Meet, the amount of people supporting fellow Lasallians is not enough. There should be at least a certain standard number of people cheering to support our sportsmen in various competitions like badminton, basketball, handball etc. Shouting and cheering for our sportsmen is the best way to indicate our sportsmen since they will always be aware that all Lasallians are proud of them and they their effort will receive recognition. By establishing the cheering team, we can assure that in each and every competition in the following school year, there would be a certain amount of passionate Lasallians of different forms to cheer and give them support, this would not only arise the sense of belonging of Lasallians but also to show that every single person in the Lasalle community is crucial in different ways and together we make our school outstanding.
